Ingredients

For the Base
  • 8 ounces pasta such as penne or fettuccine
  • 1 pound ground beef preferably lean
  • 1 medium onion diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
For the Seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon salt to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper to taste
For the Garnish
  • 1/4 cup parmesan cheese grated
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley chopped

Method

Cook the Pasta
  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente.
  2. Drain the pasta and set aside, reserving a bit of pasta water for later.
Prepare the Beef Mixture
  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
Combine Ingredients
  1. Pour in the beef broth and bring to a simmer. Let it cook for about 5 minutes to reduce slightly.
  2. Stir in the heavy cream, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Let the sauce simmer for another 5 minutes.
Mix Pasta and Sauce
  1. Add the cooked pasta to the sauce and toss to combine. If the sauce is too thick, add a little reserved pasta water to reach desired consistency.
  2. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to heat through.
Serve
  1. Divide the creamy beef pasta among serving plates.
  2. Garnish with grated parmesan cheese and chopped parsley before serving.
