  • 2 cups elbow macaroni
  • 24 oz canned tomato sauce
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 cup reserved pasta water
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Sauté onions in olive oil over medium heat until translucent. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant.
  2. Increase heat and add ground beef; cook until browned. Drain excess fat if needed.
  3. Stir in tomato sauce, Italian seasoning, and sugar; let simmer for about 10 minutes.
  4. Mix in cooked elbow macaroni and reserved pasta water until well combined. Top with shredded cheddar cheese.
  5. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and transfer mixture to a greased baking dish. Bake uncovered for 20 minutes or until bubbly and golden brown.
