Ingredients

  • 4 oz fresh mozzarella, sliced
  • 1 medium ripe tomato, sliced
  • 6 fresh basil leaves
  • 2 slices artisan bread (sourdough or ciabatta)
  • 1 tbsp balsamic glaze
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Slice the fresh mozzarella and tomato into thick slices. Rinse and pat dry the basil leaves.
  2. On one slice of bread, layer mozzarella, tomato slices, and basil leaves. Drizzle with balsamic glaze and top with another slice of bread.
  3. Spread butter evenly on the outside of both sandwich slices.
  4. Heat a skillet over medium heat and place the sandwiches in when hot enough to sizzle water droplets.
  5. Cook until golden brown for about 3-4 minutes; carefully flip and repeat until both sides are browned and cheese is melted.
  6. Remove from heat, let rest for a minute, then slice diagonally and serve warm.
