  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
  • 2 medium sweet yellow onions, sliced
  • 1 cup plain breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup shredded Swiss or Gruyère cheese
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat and sauté onions until golden brown (10-15 minutes). Set aside some for topping.
  3. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, sautéed onions, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until combined.
  4. Shape the mixture into a loaf in a greased pan or on parchment-lined baking sheet. Top with remaining onions and shredded cheese.
  5. Bake for 60-75 minutes until internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C). Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
