- 2 lbs Russet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded

- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a casserole dish with butter.
- Thinly slice the potatoes to about 1/8 inch thick using a mandoline or sharp knife.
- In a skillet over medium heat, sauté diced onions in butter until translucent. Add minced garlic and cook until fragrant.
- In a bowl, whisk together heavy cream, salt, pepper, and half the shredded cheese.
- Layer half the potato slices in the casserole dish. Top with half the onion-garlic mixture and half the cream mixture. Repeat layers, finishing with remaining cheese on top.
- Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden brown.
